The Trump administration set midnight on April 9 as the deadline for raising tariffs against China by 50%, part of the fallout from Trump’s “Liberation Day”

Why not assume at this point that breaking the entire system is the purpose? Winning a trade war would benefit Trump’s ego, but the people pulling the strings want it all burned down. Just because the media keeps playing this as traditional economics and politics doesn’t mean it remotely is.

Honestly are we even sure there is anyone pulling the strings? Like I’m pretty sure it’s more akin to the fucked up mess that was Nazi high command than anything else, where everyone is pursuing their own interests because they don’t directly overlap (with the exception of Musk who fits roughly into Himmlers role in this dynamic) but are still repeatedly fucking each other over via collateral. All the while Trump is just doing whatever the fuck since he is the source of their power and lets them do whatever so long as he is allowed to do whatever.

I don’t think we can be sure, no. But it’s a very safe bet that the Kremlin is giving the majority of the orders that suit them. The problem with Trump being so dumb is normally you’d look at guile and such to find a direction. But everyone around him knows how easy it is to manipulate him. Whoever gets in his ear last, whoever promises the most to him (whether that comes to pass or not), they’re all also factors. But these plans while insane and stupid to almost everyone, have not been created by him. They’re too involved for that.

I’m not denying that aspect, the tariffs are definitely his but most everything else probably isn’t. The point im trying to make is that everyone is enabling each other in a weird incestuous power dynamic. The only real rule being that Trump is in charge and will back anyone on what they want so long as they kiss the ring, the biggest problem with that is that the ability to be around him as a yes man means they probably aren’t the most intelligent. Not saying they ain’t dangerous or that they can’t plan just that the planning won’t be all that smart.

But I do think you are correct in that Trump will basically do whatever the fuck the last person tells him to do. Its that that is also influenced by the fact he can’t really be directly controlled because he is too fucking stupid and ego driven.
