  • Ellipses as pauses is a leftover of telegrams which bled into the era of limited text messages(and/or charging by the text), because the financial incentives for long single messages were the same.

In the era of unlimited texting, though, we’ve dropped that convention because it’s extra keystrokes. In fact, we’ve even dropped the period at the end of sentences in texts because you can just hit the send button as a thought separator, sending multiple texts.

Including the period is unnecessary extra information, so it is seen as formal at best or even a way to covey unhappiness, anger, or frustration.

Hope this helps! Note that none of this applies to longer form messages like this one.

  • Are those the original tires from the factory?

They wear out at 30-35k miles, just FYI. EVs weigh more than ICE cars sedans- it’s harder on the tires.

You can buy aftermarket tires that will last much longer, but you lose the internal foam that dampens road noise. Make sure you match the tire size. EVs require fairly specific heavy-load tires.

Edit: this was experience with a Model 3 coming from a compact gas sedan as my previous car.

  • Sure, but the company fronted the millions of dollars required to develop the technology. The investment needs to come from somewhere.

That doesn’t have to be a private company, though. We need public funding that retains the patent rights, if not just to make the invention free from licensing costs to manufacture.

The insane thing about our current system is that we do have public funding, but private companies wind up with the patent anyway
