  • NP. It’s really interesting beyond it’s similarities to Arabic too; the dots in Syriac are used to make letters hard or soft, which makes a lot more sense than using the same rasm with a different number of dots to make a completely different sound.

The language also often explains the little weird differences between levantine Arabic and MSA or other dialects, like the word “طاقة” which refers to small round windows and “بوبو” which is used to refer to an infant.

The equivalent to Arabic ط is “tet”: ܛ, but in some fonts of Syriac “taw” ܬ looks like a mirrored ܛ.

  • You can read some words or full sentences sometimes, but some letters like taw (taa’) ت ܬ, ‘ayn ع ܥ, het (haa’) ح ܚ, and shin (sheen) ش ܫ are impossible to guess without checking out the alphabet first. The madnhaya script is closer to Arabic than the Estrangela script (which you’re probably seeing on your device).

Instead of the Arabic way of distinguishing similar letters by using dots, Syriac adds fangs or lines to change the “rasm” of the letter except for dal and raa’ which use a dot below and one above, respectively. I used to confuse waw ܘ, qaf ܩ, and mim ܡ a lot at first.

  • The PA thinks that whatever Israel will leave them when they’re done stealing land will be more than what they’ll get fighting against the worldwide conspiracy. They actually believe that if all groups in Palestine had agreed to one of the past agreements and it went smoothly, they’d have proper borders and live relatively peacefully neighboring Israel, even with everything going on with countries Israel considers established, sovereign countries.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of them think what they’re doing is right, noble, and in the best interest of the whiny ungrateful fighters.

Mr. president hasn’t finished his term yet, and hasn’t formally stepped down. So I am asking Russia to return him to Syria, else he’ll not be able to fulfill his duties. According to him Russia has coerced him into fleeing the country and that’s not cool.

Plus it’s Christmas season and Russia is ruining the holiday for Syrians by stealing a very special Christmas ornament the country would’ve had.

Russia has its two ports which Assad signed away for the next gazillion years and Assad himself, who’s a property of Syria, and should be returned to be dealt with accordingly.

The real concern is Iran, Israel, and the US. Iran is currently using the desperate criminals Assad left behind to cause instability and should be the top priority of the new government.

Turkey is an alley of the new Syrian government. You can compare it to what Russia was for the regime, but not committing war crimes against most of the population.

  • Why didn’t he fight back against HTS? They didn’t destroy his military, they ousted him from Syria. Terrorists now control Syria, the people are happy, the economy is improving, and people feel safe in their homes. How did he let that happen?

Assad did not directly attack Israel. He was transporting weapons for Iran to Hezbollah.

He wasn’t transporting weapons to Hezbollah, he was just standing there and the weapons were being transported. Until Israel threatened him and the dumbass Maher who thought he was being sneaky.

For now we shall see. It is possible HTS will resist Israel but looking less and less likely.

HTS will fight to sign a peace agreement acknowledging that the Golan is part of Israel at the very least.
