Had a crash on mountain bike back in January and couple ligaments snapped in the ankle, time for a fix and upgrade in a form of some braces there.

Hospital drugs were amazing. Woke up after only 3 hours of sleep but felt great, had a good core workout and even dug up my laptop to do some work I was excited to get on to. Somehow high as kite and brain on overdrive managed to solve a problem in backlog that’s been stressing me out for some weeks already.

Got out later that day, and after a great lunch and some more legally obtained narcotics managed to get couple more hours of sleep in. Evening was some good slack and watching TV with wife.

Next day started strong, woke up very early but felt rested and after a cup of coffee a good short workout again. Sit-ups straight and lateral, push-ups, biceps, triceps.

Feels good right now, hoping to keep the motivation up going for the next 3+ months without mountain biking. How do you fellas keep up the spirits and motivation to keep training through injuries? Any fun stories to share? I’m probably going to spend a lot more time in Lemmy for a bit, might start spamming this comm too a bit ;)

Injuries can be depressing as fuck when a lot of your life revolves around being active but at least you are getting some good drugs for free! XD

I usually just alternate my training and shift into other things I can still do like for example when I broke my foot running I started doing a lot more cycling as I could do that without pain.

Gotta keep that motivation up as you say though as it can get pretty depressing not being able to do what you love because of body issues, definitely worth while putting in some core work if you can without hurting yourself as core strength is beneficial for everything in your life!

Lol yeah found out I love opiates 🤣 forcing myself to just slack on sofa is the worst

Something alternative, genuinely fun activity would be the best possible thing!

Yeah diving into that depression would be the worst thing, everything bad follows that bitch

Yeh, I know I would love opiates too which is why I have always avoided them recreationally and thankfully never needed them for pain otherwise I feel that is a hole I would fall into big time!

I am thankful that I could still cycle pain free with my broken foot the first time. I broke the other foot this winter just gone and combined with shoulder problems I basically spent 3 months doing nothing but passing time indoors and it was honestly the darkest time I’ve had for a while with the seasonal depression on top of not being able to do any proper exercise based activities. Weed and LSD saved me from completely falling off that cliff getting my mind out of that ditch.

Maybe now would be a good time to do some upper body challenges for yourself like building your pull up and push up game. Either way stay strong!
