Summary
Elon Musk, after spending $21 million backing conservative Brad Schimel in Wisconsin’s Supreme Court race, amplified election fraud claims following Schimel’s loss to liberal judge Susan Crawford.
Musk boosted a post by Alex Jones featuring Roger Stone, who alleged mail-in vote fraud. Schimel rejected the claims, urging supporters to accept the results.
Musk pivoted to highlighting a voter ID ballot measure, though Wisconsin already requires ID. Critics see his reaction as echoing Trump-era denialism.
Despite GOP pressure, Schimel’s concession stood out for its rare break from MAGA conspiracy rhetoric.
Unfortunately, the art community is still big. No other platform has as much engagement with small time artists. I use it just for that. Sometimes Ill get curious and see political tweets. They’re almost always filled to the brim with comments spouting: hate, disinformation or deflection. You’ll see sane comments but the algorithm buries them. I’m sure most are bots but the nazi-ism is definitely boosted.
I’ve made accounts on bsky, pixelfed and cara and post there also. Unfortunately the masses haven’t moved to those yet so commissions and posts are sparse.
Twitter overtook deviant art?
Would be interesting if everyone still stuck using it consistently advertised a discount for finding them on any site besides Twitter. Might not make the biggest difference by itself but it could start a trickle that turns into the flood.
Basically a surcharge for users that only know Twitter or otherwise wouldn’t be bothered by the noise. Maybe call it a tarrif that can be easily avoided :)
