A man who taped a sinister note to a Chinese ex-official’s door in New Jersey was sentenced Wednesday to 16 months in prison. He was convicted of participating in what U.S. authorities called a Beijing-driven pressure campaign targeting expatriates.
Fucking good. Canada also has a problem with extrajudicial Chinese actions abroad. Both China and India are famous for this bullshit.
Why do you think they have so many agents in foreign countries?
To quash dissent. India is extremely concerned about Sihk separatists and murders them abroad to send a clear message that if you go against the government there’s no place you’ll be safe. For China it’s less specific but to encourage people to conform to social norms or you’ll be harassed no matter where you go.
Oh I’m sure China also phones in a few killings.
“Hey remember how we let you out of prison and allowed you to go to America with a big chunk of money to start a small business that would employ our other agents? Yeah, we’re gonna need you to do that thing we talked about.”
