I’m a Relay user which is one of the few apps that are going to stick around, but I still opted out of Reddit anyway. As a mod, spez arrogance offends me.
I was a former Relay user too. I’ve been on Lemmy for about 2 weeks now. It’s growing and changing by the day. It’s really fascinating. I started using Liftoff a couple of days ago and it’s a great app! Still testing a few others but Liftoff is my favorite so far.
Yeah, Lemmy is addicting and I love its growth and potential. The only thing that scares me about it is what few people mention — and that’s if the instance owner shuts the site down (most likely because of resource and financing and it’s within the realm of possibility with so many refugees flocking here), it’s gone for good.

same, but I thought relay was shutting down too?
For now, but I believe they mentioned implementing a subscription model.
I also use Relay but I’ll be retiring the app along with my reddit accounts.

Your account would be gone, but everything else stays. You’d just make a new account on a different instance and carry on the same.
